Question Help writing a wikipedia page

    Hey there,

I am looking for people who have been surfing for a long time and know a lot about the history of it. I want to make an exhibition on surfing maps, but need some background info...

I was hoping people here could help me with this. I thought it would be nice and handy to collect the info in a Wikipedia page, since that also does not yet exist for surfing as a game mode.

Any info about the origins of surfing, changes in map making, or whatever is useful information!

Also see the post on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkillSurfin...ikipedia_page/

    EDIT! :
Ok I have set up a Google Doc since there apparently already was a Wiki page but it got deleted (http://deletionpedia.org/en/Counter_Strike_Surf)

Disclaimer: I am a surfing noob, and English is not my native language so could really really use your help!!:

You can only suggest edits by making comments, I will make sure I implement the suggestions and maybe gradually add people as editors with 'can edit' privilege.

I know the origins of surf fall somewhere in CS 1.6 around 2003 / 2004 when players realized they could slide for short periods of time on the angled roofs of buildings. After playing around with the air_accelerate rates, early crude maps such as surf_ski and surf_egypt began to pop up.

one of my first experiment with surf is on cs_assault on cs 1.6. On the ct spawn point there is a building surrounded by an angled edge where you can perfectly surf on it ^^
there are some invisible part in the B site on dust2 that can be surfed to reach spots that are originally impossible to reach solo.

I'll continously edit this post if something pops out of my head

here are other classic maps that i've played on cs 1.6 : surf_ninja, surf_greene, surf_x, and many more !

Someone on Reddit is saying that surfing started before 1.6, and that it started in Quake.. What are your thoughts on that?

History of surf from the creator himself apparently. Found by googling "cs surf history".

I know you want to make the page mostly on surf maps, but I think it would be interesting if you include information on the best surfers and how they rose and fell over time.
